Step-By-Step Wash Day Routine
Caring for and maintaining healthy hair is important for everyone, but for African American women, it can be especially challenging due to the unique texture and structure of their hair. A proper hair washing routine is essential to keep hair healthy, shiny, and manageable. In this step-by-step guide, we will provide a comprehensive hair washing routine specifically designed for African American women. From pre-wash treatments to post-wash styling, we will cover all the essential steps to ensure your hair is clean, nourished, and healthy. Whether you are dealing with dryness, breakage, or just looking to maintain healthy hair, this routine is tailored to meet your hair care needs. So, let's dive in and learn how to wash your hair like a pro!
Pre-Poo treatment: Before washing your hair, apply a pre-poo treatment such as a deep hot oil treatment. This will help to nourish and hydrate your hair, making it easier to manage during the washing process. Warm up some Bountiful Curls Hair Growth Oil as a pre poo. I can be used alone or mixed into a conditioner.
Detangle: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to detangle your hair. Start at the ends and work your way up to the roots. This will help to minimize breakage and tangling during the washing process.
Apply Scalp Scrub to the scalp to exfoliate and stimulate circulation. Wet your hair: Use lukewarm water to wet your hair thoroughly. Make sure to get your hair and scalp completely wet and scalp scrub is rinsed out completely.
Apply shampoo: Apply a sulfate-free shampoo, like our Poo Bar, to your hair and massage it into your scalp. Focus on your scalp and roots, as this is where most of the dirt and oil build-up is. This shampoo bar leaves your scalp and hair clean and soft without stripping your hair and scalp.
Rinse: Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Make sure to rinse out all of the shampoo.
Apply conditioner: Apply a moisturizing conditioner to your hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner evenly. This will help to ensure that the conditioner is evenly distributed and that your hair is easy to manage. If you have particularly dry or damaged hair, you may want to apply a heating cap for 10 - 15 minutes.
Rinse: Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Make sure to rinse out all of the conditioner. The last rinse should be cool water.
Towel dry: Gently squeeze excess water out of your hair using a towel. Do not rub your hair with the towel, as this can cause frizz and breakage.
Style your hair as desired using the Growth Oil on your scalp and the Leave in Conditioner fingered through your hair. This will help to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. You can air dry, blow dry, or use other styling tools to achieve your desired look.
Remember to wash your hair no more than once a week to avoid over-drying your hair and stripping it of its natural oils. Also, use a satin or silk pillowcase to prevent breakage and tangles while you sleep.
